SILVIA BERTON

Biography

It is in the large formats that Silvia Berton reveals herself.

Silvia Berton's figures, albeit scraped, bear the composure of the Italian tradition dating back to the Renaissance. Against a dark background, usually solid blue, women stand out, in a frontal or three-quarter pose, whose female fierceness depicted in their eyes is clouded by a touch of melancholy. Silvia Berton's painting has a great impact, an international style, but at the same time it is very personal and therefore recognizable, full of matter, that does not conceal the rapid brush stroke and that manner to paint.

Silvia Berton once worked as a model but quickly became more creative behind the camera than in front of one.

Her work although often minimal is full of character, strength and narrative.  Images that make you want to linger, reflect upon and soak up their visual impact.  There is an imaginative almost otherworldly effect that leaves a long-lasting impression.  Silvia Berton compositions set an atmosphere that is beguiling, that draws you in to a story that you are yet to understand.

When looking at her work you feel like you have fallen into someone elses dream, its real without reality, it’s mysterious and passionate and almost always leaves you without telling you the ending.
