Vincent Breed

Biography
Learning by passion:
Born in 1971 in Haarlem in the Netherlands, his family moved to France in 1983. After training in Applied Arts, he obtained his degree in Industrial Design before joining the School of Decorative Arts in Strasbourg, object section: glass workshop. From 1995 to 1998 Vincent trained in various workshops in France, Montreal, Czech Republic,… In 1999, he opened his own workshop in the historic district of Lyon.
 
The workshop and teamwork:
The 600 m2 workshop is equipped with several ovens, allowing it to produce glassware from the smallest to the largest. It is the largest private glass research and development laboratory in France, welcoming and bringing together artists, architects, designers and the best glass professionals around experimental, creative and innovative projects in a quest for excellence.
 
The Importance of Transmission:
Vincent Breed learned the trade in the workshops of French, American and Czech master glassmakers. He transmits this learning to the young apprentices and trainees whom he welcomes in his workshop all year round. Vincent Breed also leads workshops in art centers such as HEAR (Haute Ecole d’Art du Rhin), CERFAV (European Center for Research and Training in Glass Art), Musverre (Workshop of the Glass Museum of Sars -Pottery).
