Lis Sam
Lis Sam is a French contemporary artist of Tunisian origin, born in 1989 and currently based in France. A self-taught artist emerging from street art culture, he has spent more than a decade exploring the intersection of figurative art, optical art, glass-framed sculpture, floral elements, and poetic portrait.
His unique artistic journey began at a very young age. A decisive encounter with a butterfly greenhouse in the south of France gave rise to his most emblematic project, “Blossoming Girls” a series of contemporary artworks in which thousands of meticulously assembled, preserved butterflies form highly textured and visually immersive female portraits.
Vision, Techniques, and Optical Illusions
Lis Sam’s work brings together:
Optical Art : His artworks play with the viewer’s perception depending on the angle of view, light, or distance, the compositions shift and reveal new forms, creating a dynamic and interactive visual experience.
Mixed Media Techniques : The use of butterflies, flowers, paint, and glass-framed materials introduces tridimensionality and light effects that enhance each piece.
Naturalistic Symbolism : Butterflies become symbols of transformation, freedom, and rebirth, while floral motifs evoke delicacy, life, and organic energy.
His visual universe creates a dialogue between street art, floral pop art, optical illusion, and poetic portrait, resulting in a vibrant, immersive, and instantly recognizable artistic signature.
