Tom Seerden

Biography
"You want to do something that doesn't exist yet, something that no one else has suggested to you."

Tom Seerden was born in 1957 in the Netherlands, he studied Art education in Nijmegen and the Academy of Fine Arts in Arnhem. He furthered his learning with a study trip to Italy in 1984. Based mainly in the Netherlands but spending time in Italy's Abruzzo region, Seerden showcases his work in galleries and art fairs across multiple countries. His sculptures reflect the core sculpting elements - mass, space, material, tension, and movement - and he has recently focused on creating bronze landscapes on weathered beams and monoliths, capturing memories of his travels. Inspired by Italian villages, landscapes, and architecture, his work weaves these elements together, including castles, ruins, and architectural fragments, often displaying an archaic appearance due to his hand-casting technique. His sculptures celebrate the beauty of Italian landscapes on stone or wood pedestals.
