Nimrod Messeg

Biography

At a very young age,Nimrod Messeg sculpted in his father's workshop. He has since developed his very recognizable style. After traveling a lot, his family settled in Marbella in 1999. He began creating custom architectural furniture under the Messeg Design brand and collaborated in particular with decorators Roche-Bobois and Armani, then specialized in metallic iron sculptures, in unique pieces, some of which are large, notably his famous series of Torsos, Heads, Horses and Bulls, or Venetian masks. He uses ancient techniques of forging, plasma torch, hammers and electric sanders to forge materials, shapes and effects that give his sculptures their recognizable character. The coldness and brutality of the metal become under his blowtorch a supple, warm, airy, entwined and sensual beauty. His sculptures are present in the most beautiful properties in the world.

“During the sculpting process, fire is my very first tool. The power of creation connects me strongly to nature and life itself. The observation of flames, sparks and fusion attracts me towards the celestial dimension of this work, accompanied by fantasy and travel. The light and warm energy of fire allows me to give life to a whole new entity. By defining a finished work, I can see its entirety, from its birth as a simple piece of metal, to the creative process and its different textures, shapes and surfaces. Each of my sculptures has its own future and takes me as an instrument of its own life”
